A python weighing about 20 kg has been rescued from Sreemangal in Moulvibazar.

Members of the Bangladesh Wildlife Service Foundation and the forest department rescued the snake from the Ichhabpur area of the upazila on Monday (24 November).

Local people said labourers clearing bushes in Ichhabpur spotted the python on top of a wall and panicked. The Bangladesh Wildlife Service Foundation was informed, and a team led by the foundation's director, Swapan Deb Sajal, came and rescued the snake unharmed. It was later handed over to the Sreemangal range office of the forest department.

Sreemangal Range Officer Nazmul Islam confirmed the rescue and said the python had been given to the beat officer to be released in Lawachara forest.
