Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram planted a mango sapling in the rose garden of the Parliament House complex. Deputy Speaker Barrister Kaiser Kamal then planted a mango sapling.

After the tree planting on Saturday morning (14 March), prayers and a munajat were offered for the souls of martyred President Ziaur Rahman, Begum Khaleda Zia, their youngest son Arafat Rahman Koko, and those who gave their lives for the country's independence. Before the planting, the Speaker visited his bungalow.

The secretary, additional secretary and Serjeant-at-Arms of the Parliament Secretariat and other officials and staff concerned were also present.
