By building a rooftop farm in Bijoynagar, South Patenga, Chattogram, Nurul Alam has found relief from various physical problems. In his garden of flowers, fruit and medicinal herbs, every moment has become a pleasure.

Nurul Alam returned home after working abroad for some time. In 2006 he built this spacious four-storey house very close to the Karnaphuli estuary on the Bay of Bengal. In 2010, a sponge gourd plant in a corner of the roof drew him to farming.

Day by day, the rooftop farm became his main workplace. It meets the household's need for fresh vegetables and salad greens, along with an abundance of flowers and fruit. He has also started practising organic farming in earnest.

He takes advice and support from the agriculture department. In his rooftop farm, Nurul Alam has also discovered a different kind of natural beauty, which he enjoys alone.
