The Forest Department has rescued a slow loris from deep forest in the Bangchhari beat of the Kaptai range in Rangamati. The animal was rescued at around 11am on Saturday, 22 October, and released into the forest afterwards.

Kaptai range officer Khandaker Mahmudul Haque Murad said a man had taken the slow loris into the deep forest of the Bangchhari beat to sell it. When forest staff raided on a tip-off, the trafficker fled, leaving the caged animal behind.

The slow loris was later released in the evening on the instructions of Rangamati conservator of forests Md Mizanur Rahman and Saleh Md Shoaib Khan, divisional forest officer (DFO) of the Chittagong Hill Tracts South Forest Division.

Forest guards Md Giasuddin, Md Abu Bakkar and Md Akter Hossain were among those present.
