A two-and-a-half-year-old child named Arabi has died from a snakebite in Sitakunda, Chattogram. The incident happened on the evening of Thursday, 29 August, in the Mohanagar area of Syedpur union in the upazila.
The child was the son of Altaf Hossain, an expatriate worker, of the Mobarak Ali Muhuri Bari in the area.
Mosharaf Hossain, member for Ward 3 of Syedpur union, said two children were playing inside the house on Thursday evening when a snake bit Arabi. The child showed his mother the bitten part of his hand. The family quickly took him to Sitakunda upazila health complex. When his condition worsened he was taken to the BITID hospital in Fouzderhat, where a doctor declared him dead.
