Local people in Sitakunda, Chattogram, have caught a man named Md Sajib (33) while he was slaughtering a deer he had trapped in a keora plantation on the sea coast. He is the son of Ahidul Islam Murad of the upazila's Bogachatar area.

The incident took place on Thursday afternoon (8 January) on the sea coast in the Bogachatar area of Syedpur union in the upazila.

Md Hasan, deputy ranger of the Chattogram Coastal Forest Division, confirmed the matter.

According to the range office, locals caught Sajib red-handed as he slaughtered the trapped deer. When the beat office was informed, officials came and detained him along with the deer. He was later handed over to Kotwali police station in the city. About 30-35 kg of parts of the slaughtered deer were recovered from him.

Deputy ranger Md Hasan said a man named Sajib involved in the incident has been detained, and the recovered deer parts will be buried.

He added that preparations are under way to file a case, and no one involved will be spared.
