Forest department officials have rescued a 12-foot python in Sitakunda, Chattogram, and released it into the deep jungle of the Bhatiari area. The snake was released on Thursday 16 November.

Earlier, on the evening of Wednesday 15 November, Khosrul Amin, beat officer of the Faujdarhat check station and forest department, and his colleagues rescued the python from the Madambibir Hat area of Bhatiari union in Sitakunda.

Khosrul Amin said the python was stuck in a narrow canal behind the Abul Khair steel factory. "On information from local people we rescued the python unharmed and released it deep in the jungle of the Bhatiari area. It may have come into the area along the canal from the adjoining hill forest," he said.
