A rooftop farm on part of the huge roof of Asha Tower in Shyamoli is producing toxin-free fruit and crops. Its organisers say they will develop it into a rooftop farming model, where anyone can gain a thorough understanding of rooftop farming.
Fruit and vegetables for staff
On part of the roof of about 13,000 square feet, various fruits and vegetables are being grown. The organisation's staff are in strong demand for this safe produce. They are not only eating it themselves but also earning cash by selling the vegetables and fruit.
Plans for a model
The authorities plan to develop the roof into a model in future to encourage city people to take up rooftop farming.
