Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sent 1,500 kg of mangoes as a goodwill gift to Pakistan's Prime Minister, Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif.

The Bangladesh High Commission handed the mangoes over to a protocol officer of Pakistan's foreign ministry on 10 July. Md Ruhul Alam Siddique, Bangladesh's high commissioner to Pakistan, announced this in a statement.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's goodwill gift has been received with thanks on behalf of Pakistan," Ruhul Alam Siddique said in the statement. "This gift will add a new dimension to the diplomatic relations between the two brotherly countries and further accelerate the development of mutual bilateral relations."

The prime minister has been sending mangoes as gifts to neighbouring countries, and the mangoes for Pakistan's prime minister are part of this. Last year, too, she sent one tonne of mangoes to Pakistan's prime minister. The Bangladeshi prime minister had also sent 1,000 kg of Haribhanga mangoes to Pakistan's former prime minister Imran Khan.
