A woman named Achhia Begum, 28, has died after being bitten by a venomous snake in Tala upazila of Satkhira. The incident happened at around 8pm on Sunday (30 June) in Raipur village of Khalilnagar union. Achhia Begum was the wife of Nantu Gazi of Raipur village.

Local union parishad member Shirina Khatun said the housewife was cleaning the family's cowshed in the evening when a snake bit her. It could not be confirmed what kind of snake it was. She was rescued at once but died on the way to the upazila health complex.

On hearing the news, Khalilnagar Union Parishad chairman Pranab Ghosh Bablu visited Achhia Begum's home and offered his condolences to the grieving family.

Tala police station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Mominul Islam confirmed the death and said she was buried in the family graveyard on Monday afternoon.
