Under the slogan "Sabuje Sajai Bangladesh" (Let us deck Bangladesh in green), the Prokriti O Jibon Club distributed free fruit, timber and medicinal tree saplings to students of Dhulihar-Brahmarajpur (DB) Secondary Girls' School in Satkhira.

The programme, aimed at raising public awareness of environmental conservation and building a green Bangladesh for future generations, was opened at noon on Wednesday, 13 August, on the school grounds by Sadar upazila nirbahi officer Shoaib Ahmad. "Trees give us oxygen, so everyone must plant trees and care for them properly," he said.

The event was presided over by school president Sarfaraz Newaz Sagar and moderated by the club's district president, Advocate Munir Uddin. Those present included S M Shahidul Islam, convener of the district Muktijoddha Sangsad; headteacher Md Emadul Islam; assistant teacher SM Shahidul Islam; club general secretary Abdus Samad; and local people and journalists.

Each student was given two saplings.
