Young agricultural entrepreneur Alimuzzaman Milton of Chuadanga has drawn attention by making inputs that support rooftop farming. On the farm he built, he has brought together new technologies and techniques.

After finishing his education, Alimuzzaman did not take up any other profession. He involved himself in many kinds of agricultural work, experimenting with everything from crop production to aspects of urban farming, and built the infrastructure rooftop farming needs.

Describing his work, Alimuzzaman Milton said: "I have grown vegetables such as mint and lettuce using PVC pipes. Every kind of vegetable, aubergine or chilli, can be grown here. It is possible to meet the vegetable needs of a family of seven or eight by growing any seasonal vegetable."

He is also experimenting with soilless farming, mixing coco peat, the leftover part of the coconut, with soil.

Inside the farm is a trellis for growing the Baul variety of bottle gourd. "People nearby who are interested in growing bottle gourd come and take seed from here," Milton said. "The advantage of this variety is that it is high-yielding and fruits all twelve months."

The young entrepreneur has built his farm as a place to give commercial support to agriculture and farmers.
