Snake Rescue Bangladesh has rescued a 15-foot python weighing 40 kg in Raozan, Chattogram. The snake was recovered at about 10am on 16 January from the Bashir Mohammad Shah Para area of Unsattarpara village in No 9 Pahartali union under Raozan police station.

The forest department said the snake had come into the settlement in search of food. It was later released in the hills.

According to local sources, the python was moving about beside a house in Mohammad Shah Para when a woman saw it and screamed. Local people came and caught the snake, and on being informed a Snake Rescue Bangladesh team went to the spot and rescued it.

Pallab Kumar Saha, officer of the Raozan Dhala beat, said members of the Snake Rescue Bangladesh team rescued the python after receiving word from local people and released it in the hills with the help of forest officials. He said it was a Burmese python, weighing an estimated 40 kg and about 15 feet long.
