Waste from animal sacrifices in the Rangpur City Corporation area will be removed within 12 hours of the sacrifice, the corporation's administrator, Advocate Mahfuz Un Nabi Don, has said.

He said this on the afternoon of 25 May at an event to distribute Eid gifts to cleaners ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, held at the Rangpur Shilpakala Academy auditorium.

Addressing the cleaners, he said, "We want to keep the city clean. Cleaners must play their part in this effort before and after Eid alike. I believe it will not take more than 12 hours to remove the waste from sacrificial animals if you carry out your duties sincerely. It is because you work tirelessly to keep the city clean that the Prime Minister has stood by you."

This Eid-ul-Azha, each of 855 cleaners was given Tk 5,000. The same amount was given at the last Eid-ul-Fitr. The cleaners were delighted to receive the Eid gift from the Prime Minister and wished the Prime Minister well.

Among others present were Dr Nikhilendra Shankar Guha Roy, vice-president of the DAB central committee and president of its Rangpur city unit; the city corporation's chief executive officer (additional charge) Rakib Hasan; chief estate officer Rubel Rana; and chief cleanliness officer Naim Hasan Khan.
