Litchis picked from a tree at Motihar Hall of Rajshahi University (RU) have been delivered to every room. Hall union leaders were seen taking litchis to all the rooms at 2pm on Monday, 4 May. Hall union VP Md Tajul Islam was present.

About 5,000 litchis were gathered and shared equally among 240 rooms, including the PhD block, and all the hall's officers and staff. Each room received 20 to 30 litchis.

Mehedi Hasan, a resident student of Motihar Hall, said that in the past, when the hall union was not running, Chhatra League took the litchis during its time. "Now that the hall union is running, they have been delivered room to room on an equal basis. We are very happy, and thank the hall union for such a nice initiative."

Tajul Islam said the litchis were picked from the hall's only litchi tree and all distributed, on the initiative of the hall union and with the help of resident students. "We have kept litchis in the hall union room for non-resident students and will give them out when they come. With the help of all the students in the hall, we have been able to let the litchis ripen until now," he said.

Thanking the students, he said: "If they had not helped us, we could not have distributed the litchis. The joy of picking fruit in the hall reminds us of our childhood. You won't find this festive atmosphere anywhere else."
