Members of the Indo-Bangla Press Club in Kolkata have been handed Bangladesh's traditional Rajshahi mangoes.

The sweet mangoes were given to every member of the club and their families on Saturday afternoon (17 June) at an event titled "Aam Ahlade Amra" at the Indo-Bangla Press Club.

Local West Bengal mangoes are within easy reach of Kolkata residents, but Rajshahi mangoes are not, so every member of the club and their families were delighted with the event.

To deepen the bond between journalists of the two countries, the Indo-Bangla Press Club's slogan is "With journalists, beside journalists".

Last year, during the Durga Puja season, every member of the Indo-Bangla Press Club was given Bangladesh's silver hilsa with the help of the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata. This time it is Bangladesh's famous Rajshahi mangoes.

The Indo-Bangla Press Club has also set a proud example, from helping Bangladeshis who run into trouble while visiting West Bengal to members standing by one another in times of need.

The press club, formed jointly by journalists from India and Bangladesh, aims to play a major role in publishing accurate news about the two countries and to work more actively to maintain friendship and good relations between Bangladesh and India.

The Indo-Bangla Press Club was founded on 14 March 2022 and formally began its work on 24 August the same year. Within a year it has become quite well known.
