A housewife named Nargis Akter, 35, has died of a snakebite in Rajbari Sadar upazila.

The incident happened on Saturday (23 September) evening in Bhabanipur village of the upazila. Nargis was the wife of Noyon Sheikh of the village.

Noyon Sheikh said he went home at around 7pm after driving his rickshaw and learnt that something had bitten his wife in the evening. She was rushed to Rajbari District Sadar Hospital, where the doctor on duty in the emergency department declared her dead. He said he did not know what kind of snake had bitten her.

Shaon Sharmin, the doctor on duty in the emergency department of Rajbari Sadar Hospital, said the woman had been bitten by a snake and had died before being brought to hospital.
