A mobile court has fined four pharmacies in Goalanda upazila, Rajbari, a total of Tk 20,000 for selling unapproved medicines and antibiotics without a registered doctor's prescription. The drive took place near Ujanchar bazar on Tuesday, 29 September.

It was led by Md Muntasir Hasan Khan, assistant commissioner (land) and executive magistrate of Goalanda upazila. The fines were imposed and collected for offences under the Drugs Act 1940.

M/s Sardar Drug House was fined Tk 5,000, M/s New Momtaz Medicine Corner Tk 2,000, M/s Lily Pharmacy Tk 10,000 and M/s Mostafa Drug House Tk 3,000.

Executive magistrate Md Muntasir Hasan Khan said: 'Four businesses were fined for selling unapproved medicines and selling antibiotics without a registered doctor's prescription. Such mobile courts will continue in the public interest and to restore order in the medicine market.'
