The Bangladesh Wildlife Service Foundation has rescued a large python from a cattle farm at Sreemangal in Moulvibazar.

The snake was rescued at midday on Sunday, 30 August, from Jashim Uddin's farm in the Ichhabpur area of Sreemangal.

According to local sources, the python suddenly entered Jashim Uddin's cattle farm. Sensing the snake, the cattle began bellowing and running about. Hearing the noise, the owner went over and saw the huge python inside.

The movement and bellowing of the cattle then drove the python out of the farm, causing panic among the farm workers. Jashim Uddin informed the Bangladesh Wildlife Service Foundation, and its director Swapan Deb Sajal, Sanjit Deb and environmental activist Rajdip Debdip went to the spot and rescued the python safely. It was then handed over to the Sreemangal Forest Department range office.

Confirming the rescue, Sreemangal forest range officer Md Nazmul Islam said the snake had been released in Lawachara forest.
