Pirojpur district Chhatra Dal held a tree-planting programme to mark World Environment Day, as part of a central programme.

The programme took place on the premises of Pirojpur Government Sohrawardi College on Thursday (12 June) afternoon. Leaders and activists of the district Chhatra Dal planted neem trees, and it was announced that 5,000 trees would be planted at all educational institutions in the district.

Present were Pirojpur district Chhatra Dal president Salauddin Talukder Kumar, general secretary Hasan Shahin and organising secretary Rana Mallik, along with college and local Chhatra Dal activists.

District Chhatra Dal president Salauddin Talukder Kumar said trees are immensely important for protecting the environment. He said Chhatra Dal always takes part in humanitarian and public-awareness programmes and will continue to do so.

The central Chhatra Dal has taken up simultaneous tree-planting programmes across the country to mark World Environment Day.
