Enjoy Pineapple Hilsa for a Holiday Lunch

Most people have tried hilsa in mustard paste, bhapa or paturi, but pineapple hilsa is a dish worth trying, and here is an easy recipe.

The monsoon is the right time to enjoy hilsa. On a drizzly afternoon, fried hilsa with steaming khichuri, or any of the many hilsa dishes with hot rice, goes wonderfully.

Almost everyone has eaten hilsa in mustard paste, ilish bhapa, paturi and the like. But have you ever tasted anarosi ilish, hilsa with pineapple? Once you try this delicious dish you will want it again and again. Here is an easy recipe.

Ingredients


  • Hilsa, 4 pieces
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon
  • Pineapple juice, 1 cup
  • Pineapple pieces, half a cup
  • Onion paste, 3 tablespoons
  • Garlic, 4 cloves
  • Green chillies, 3

Method


First rub the hilsa with salt and a little turmeric powder and fry lightly. Grind ginger, garlic and green chillies into a paste.

Heat oil in a pan and fry the onion mixture well. Add salt and stir. Then add the pineapple juice to the spices and cook it down well.

Now add the fried hilsa and the pineapple pieces, cover and cook for about five minutes. Your pineapple hilsa is ready. Serve this wonderful hilsa and pineapple dish with hot rice.
