Two siblings, Rifat, 15, and Jannati, 6, have been admitted to hospital after being bitten by a snake in Kasbamajail, Pangsha, Rajbari. Their relatives killed the snake and brought it to the hospital.

They were admitted to Pangsha Upazila Health Complex at around 8.30pm on Sunday (23 June). Rifat and Jannati are the children of Ujir Mondal of Subarnakhola village in Kasbamajail union of Pangsha upazila.

The snake bit Rifat and Jannati beside their home at around 8pm on Sunday (23 June). Relatives quickly brought them to Pangsha Upazila Health Complex and had them admitted, bringing along the snake, which they had killed.

After seeing the snake and examining the patients, the doctor on duty, Dr Enam, was satisfied that it was not a venomous snake. Even so, the patients have been kept in hospital and are being observed and given the necessary treatment to make sure they are completely out of danger.

Pangsha Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Sharmin Ahmed Tithi said the two patients have been given proper treatment under her own supervision and are under observation. They are well, but are still being observed. Judging by the snake brought with them, it does not appear to be venomous, she said.
