A man named Zahed Ali Khan, 65, has died after being bitten by a snake tangled in a net in Pabna. He died on the morning of Thursday, 3 October.

The snake bit him on Wednesday night in Shamukjani village of Santhia upazila. Locals said he had set a khora net near his home at night. When he went to lift the net, a snake caught in it struck Zahed Ali. He came home and told his family, and relatives took him to a kabiraj, a traditional healer, near the house. The kabiraj said he had drawn out the venom, and Zahed Ali was brought home that night.

He fell ill towards dawn, and his family took him to another kabiraj. When that healer said he could do nothing, Zahed Ali was taken first to Bera health complex. As his condition worsened there, he died on the way to Pabna General Hospital.

Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Santhia police station, confirmed the incident.
