Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam has launched the 'One Child, One Tree' programme to build a green and liveable Bangladesh for future generations. She inaugurated the programme at Nabagram Government Primary School in Manikganj Sadar on 19 July.

Speaking as chief guest, the minister said: "Today we have not gathered just to launch a programme. We have come together to pledge to build a green Bangladesh for the next generation: to put a tree in every child's hand and begin a beautiful tomorrow through a single tree."

She said the current government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, is working to build a modern, green and liveable Bangladesh. "We believe development is not just about building bridges, roads or buildings. Development is meaningful only when nature is protected, the environment is safe and people are aware. So planting a tree is not just planting a sapling. It is a pledge, a responsibility, and a gift for the next generation."

The minister thanked the people of Manikganj for their trust in her and sought everyone's prayers to fulfil their dreams.

Officials of the Manikganj district and upazila administrations and local dignitaries attended the event, organised by the Manikganj Sadar upazila administration.
