Riding a bicycle carrying the national flag, Alamgir Hossain has gone camping from Saidpur upazila in Nilphamari to Tetulia and the Banglabandha zero point in Panchagarh district. The young man from Khatamadhupur union of Saidpur upazila took up the initiative to protect birds and nature.

Continuing his "Save birds, save nature" movement, Alamgir Hossain travelled through Nilphamari, Dinajpur, Thakurgaon and Panchagarh from 31 October to 2 November. Along the way he stopped at schools, colleges and markets to hold discussions and hand out leaflets.

On the first day, Saidpur's acting upazila nirbahi officer Amal Kumar Sarkar inaugurated the ride. On the last day, a group of local volunteers joined him on the way from Panchagarh to the Banglabandha zero point. When he arrived there, Razia Sultana, female vice-chairman of Tetulia upazila parishad, declared the three-day journey over.

Alamgir Hossain said: "We must become aware of the need to protect birds and nature, and for that we need more and more campaigning. I plan to cycle around the whole country to call on people to save birds and nature."

Alamgir Hossain founded a volunteer organisation called Setubandhan. Since 2013 he has tied clay pitchers to trees in Saidpur, Nilphamari, where birds live. For this he received the "Bird Conservation Award 2016".
