The Bangladesh Navy has taken up a tree-planting programme as part of the National Tree Plantation Campaign 2025, under the theme "Let us plan afforestation, build a green Bangladesh".

Navy chief Admiral M Nazmul Hasan inaugurated the programme by planting a sapling at BNS Dhaka on Wednesday, 25 June. He stressed planting more trees in coastal areas to cope with natural disasters and protect the balance of the environment.

The information was given in a press release from the Inter Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR). According to ISPR, prayers were offered for the success of the programme. Principal staff officers of Naval Headquarters, the area commander of Naval Area Dhaka and senior military and civilian officers, staff and sailors were present.

To carry out the programme successfully, the Bangladesh Navy is planting trees at all its naval bases and installations and in coastal areas. The navy chief urged all naval personnel to plant trees to keep the environment green and healthy.

The navy is implementing the programme by planting fruit, timber and medicinal saplings at its bases, installations and coastal areas.
