A snakebite patient in Natore turned up at hospital with the snake itself. He is now being treated at Natore Adhunik Sadar Hospital.

On the morning of Thursday 14 August, Asim Sardar (35), son of Dinu Sardar of Mominpur Sardarpara village in Naldanga upazila, caught the snake that bit him alive and brought it to hospital.

His family said that when he got out of bed in the morning and stepped on the floor, a venomous snake bit his foot and quickly slipped into a nearby hole. Hearing his cry, family members rushed over and saw blood on his foot. After searching, they pulled the snake out of the hole in the house and shut it in a cage.

Relatives said they brought the snake to hospital to help with proper treatment and identification of the species.

Dr Mahabub Rahman, resident medical officer (RMO) of the Sadar Hospital, said the patient is being given antivenom and other necessary treatment, and is now well.
