A sacrificial animal market has been set up in Singra upazila of Natore under the slogan "Transactions are going cashless, Bangladesh is getting smart". Payments for cattle at the market are made through the mobile financial service Nagad.

The cashless market in the Ferighat area of Singra was initiated by Zunaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology. Through his efforts, a cashless sacrificial animal market has been held in Singra every year since the coronavirus pandemic.

From the market's single digital payment booth, buyers and sellers can cash out through Nagad at what the report describes as the lowest cost in the country. In particular, buyers and sellers are spared the pickpockets, "ointment gangs" and other menaces seen at animal markets every year. The digital payment booth has made it easy for people in Singra to transact from their mobile phones, and traders from far away can return home safely after selling their animals by using Nagad's cashless payments.

Nagad Deputy Managing Director Sihab Uddin Chowdhury said: "Nagad is the first name in encouraging cashless transactions in the country. Every year during Eid-ul-Azha we serve buyers and sellers at markets across the country as a safe and affordable way to transact. Our other services are there too."

For those at the market without a Nagad account, Nagad is also offering to open one in a few minutes at the digital payment booth.
