A day-long jaggery festival, Gur Utsab 2026, was held in Natore to keep the tradition of winter jaggery alive and help producers and sellers find buyers. North Bengal E-commerce Foundation organised it at the Natore district council hall from 9am on Saturday, 31 October.
Sixteen stalls offered different kinds of traditional jaggery and other local products, and visitors from many walks of life browsed and bought.
Entrepreneur Moyna said the festival let producers show their goods to buyers directly, making their products better known and opening new customer and business contacts. Visitor Robiul Karim said such events are a chance to learn about and buy locally made products.
Mohammad Ibrahim Sardar, president of North Bengal E-commerce Foundation, said the festival would strengthen ties among local entrepreneurs and make traditional jaggery and other local products known nationwide.
Ahead of winter, producers in the north prepare to sell date-palm sap and jaggery online and at fairs. The organisers hope that direct contact with buyers will help them get a fair price.
