Gopalbhog mangoes are reaching the markets in Natore from Saturday (25 May). To mark the occasion, Md Abdul Wadud, deputy director of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), formally opened mango picking on Saturday morning at Kamardiar village in Natore Sadar upazila.

A rally of farmers from Kamardiar village was held on the occasion. It was addressed by Sonia Parveen, additional agriculture officer of Natore Sadar upazila, farmer Shah Alam and others.

Deputy Commissioner Abu Naser Bhuiyan said the administration is keeping constant watch to ensure no immature or adulterated fruit is sold in the market. Strict action will be taken against any trader or orchard owner who does so.

DAE deputy director Abdul Wadud said mango has been cultivated on 5,718 hectares in the district this year. He hoped farmers would get fair prices and good yields.
