A mosque imam named Hadiar Rahman Khan (60) has died of a venomous snakebite in Narail Sadar upazila. The incident took place on Monday afternoon (3 November) in Chakulia village of the upazila's Chandibarpur union.

Hadiar Rahman Khan was the son of the late Samsher Khan of Chakulia village. Alongside farming his land, he served as imam of Chakulia Jame Mosque.

Relatives and local sources said that on Monday afternoon he went to plant kalai in his own field. While he was planting, a venomous snake bit him.

He then went home and told his family, who took him to Narail District Hospital, where the doctor on duty in the emergency department declared him dead after examining him.

Alok Kumar Bakchi, the doctor on duty in the emergency department of Narail District Hospital, said a snakebite victim named Hadiar Rahman Khan was brought to the hospital at around 5:50pm, but he had died before he was brought in.
