A college student named Eni Roy, 18, has died of a snakebite in Narail. She died while undergoing treatment at the Sadar Hospital early on Monday (7 October).

Eni Roy was the daughter of Bishankar Roy of Hijoldanga village in Mulia union, Narail Sadar upazila. She was a Class XI student at Narail Government Women's College.

Her uncle Swapan Roy said Eni went to sleep after dinner on Sunday night. At around midnight she told her parents something had bitten her. When the bedsheet and mattress were moved, a venomous snake was found. She was brought to Narail Sadar Hospital at around 2am along with a picture of the snake, and died there under treatment early in the morning.

Dr Alok Kumar Bagchi, the doctor on duty, said the patient had been brought to hospital late. "We tried everything, including antivenom, but could not save her," he said.
