A schoolboy named Talha Mondal has died of electrocution after climbing a tree to pick mangoes in Naldanga, Natore.

The accident happened on Wednesday (3 July) in the Mondolpara area of Biprobelghoria union in the upazila.

Talha Mondal was the son of Ashraful Islam of the area and a class six student at a local school.

According to his family and local people, Talha went to pick mangoes in a mango orchard next to their house. He climbed a tree and began picking mangoes with a bamboo pole, and at one point was electrocuted by a high-voltage power line running over the tree. Relatives took him to Natore Modern Sadar Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Naldanga Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Monowaruzzaman confirmed the incident.
