A child named Lamim Sheikh, 11, has died of a snakebite while taking food to his grandfather in a jute field in Faridpur's Nagarkanda upazila.

The incident happened at around 10am on Friday (19 May) in Sri Angal village of Dangi union in the upazila. Lamim was the son of Manju Sheikh of the village and a student of the upazila's Kasimul Ulum Madrasa.

Local union parishad member Kazi Anwar Hossain told Jagonews that a snake bit the boy in the morning as he was taking food to his grandfather in the family's jute field. He came home writhing in pain and told his parents. He was then taken to Faridpur's Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
