A child named Mosabbir, 12, has been killed in an attack by a circus elephant in Nachole, Chapainawabganj.

The incident happened on the morning of Wednesday, 8 November, in Manikra village in the Lakshmipur crossing area of the upazila's Nezampur union. Mosabbir was the son of Bulbul Islam of Masterpara village in the Lakshmipur area of the union.

Azhar Ali, a resident of Manikra village, said two rogue elephants had been roaming the area since morning when Mosabbir came in front of them. The two elephants dashed him to the ground, seriously injuring him. Locals took him to Nachole Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Nachole police station officer in charge (OC) Mintu Rahman confirmed the incident. He said villagers had caught one elephant at Amnura Shimultala crossing, but the other had not yet been caught. The Rajshahi Forest Department had been informed, and a team from the department would capture the elephant and take it away.
