The Munsur Gazi Foundation runs a tree planting drive every year. As part of the current drive, trees were planted on the morning of 20 July in the grounds of Nanupur Jame Mosque in Nanupur village, Chandpur Sadar.

The foundation's founder Alhaj Gazi Munsur Aziz, Sahabuddin Khan, Md Shamim Hossain and Md Sabuj were among those who took part. Saplings of various kinds of trees were planted this year.

The foundation was set up in 2001 on the initiative of Gazi Munsur Aziz. It runs a library, distributes and plants saplings, gives education scholarships, runs environmental awareness campaigns, and holds Ilish Adda and publishes an Eid festival rhyme magazine, among other activities.

Founder Alhaj Gazi Munsur Aziz said: "There is no alternative to trees for protecting the environment. Trees also have many other benefits. That is why we hold a tree planting drive every year."
