The Awami League's forest and environment sub-committee has planted trees in Munshiganj to mark the prime minister's 75th birthday.

On Tuesday (28 September), fruit and timber trees were planted at 11 spots, including educational institutions, in the district's Tongibari and Louhajang upazilas, at the initiative of sub-committee member and former student leader Rafiqul Islam Sujan. Local leaders and activists of the Awami League and its associate bodies were present.

Rafiqul Islam Sujan said a nationwide tree-planting initiative had been taken to mark the prime minister's birthday. As part of it, various kinds of trees have been planted at different places in the district.

Those present included Osman Goni Talukder, acting president of the Louhajang upazila Awami League, and general secretary Rashid Shikder, among many others.
