The Forest Department has rescued a huge python, 11 feet long and weighing 20kg, from a homestead in Morrelganj, Bagerhat.

The python was rescued on the morning of Tuesday, 25 October, from the homestead of Alamin in Amurbunia village of Morrelganj.

Mohammad Shahjahan, officer of the Jiudhara station under the Chandpai range of the Sundarbans East Forest Division, confirmed the rescue to Jagonews.

He said that after receiving the information, the python was rescued from Alamin's homestead in Amurbunia village and then released into the reserve forest.

It is thought the python may have come into the inhabited area because tidal water had caused waterlogging.
