Popular sweets and bakery brand Mithai has launched a special campaign, "On the Green Path With Mithai", to raise awareness of environmental protection and healthy living. It plans to distribute 3,000 indoor plants to customers through the initiative.

Plants with cakes

As part of the campaign, customers who buy a Mithai cake at selected outlets receive an indoor plant as a gift. The company says the aim is to keep indoor air clean and increase the presence of greenery in city life.

Mithai's head of marketing, Anisul Islam, said air pollution was one of the biggest challenges of city life, and according to a recent IQAir report Dhaka is one of the world's most polluted cities. In this situation, indoor plants could play an effective role in improving indoor air quality. The initiative aimed to build social awareness and encourage an eco-friendly lifestyle.

He added that Mithai always believed in taking part in positive and humane initiatives with its customers, and through the campaign it wanted every family to share in small green initiatives.

Mithai's deputy brand manager, Masum Billah, said the campaign had started recently and 500 indoor plants had already been given out. It will run until 30 June, with a target of distributing about 3,000 plants in that time.

Customers can currently collect the plants by buying cakes at 10 selected outlets in Dhaka, including Dhanmondi, Mirpur, Uttara, Badda and Niketan. Details of the campaign are available on Mithai's official Facebook page (www.facebook.com/mithaibd).
