Two women have died of snakebites in Mirzapur, Tangail. They are Ajufa Begum, 40, of Bahuria village in the upazila's Bahuria union, and Dipali Rani, 45, of Lalbari village in Gorai union of the same upazila.

According to Kumudini Hospital sources, at around 7:30am on Saturday Ajufa Begum was pulling straw from a haystack for the cattle when a venomous snake bit her. Her family admitted her to Kumudini Hospital, where she died under treatment at around 10:30am.

Separately, Dipali Rani was bitten by a snake on Friday evening and was also admitted to Kumudini Hospital. She died at 7:50pm, 20 minutes after admission.

Dr Anamika Saha, the doctor on duty in Kumudini Hospital's medicine ward, confirmed that they died of snakebites.
