A 16-foot python has been rescued in Mirsharai, Chattogram. The snake had been injured, and forest guards released it back into the forest after giving it first aid. An organisation called the Wildlife and Snake Rescue Team in Bangladesh helped with the rescue.

Earlier, on the morning of Saturday, 22 March, a group of children and teenagers tied the python up with rope in an open field in Purba Khoiyachhara village of the upazila. It was rescued from there. The snake is about 16 feet long and weighs 30 kg.

Mohammad Mamun, Barotakia beat officer of the Baraiyadhala range, said: "A group of village children and teenagers saw the python and tied it up with rope. Our team then rescued the snake with the help of a wildlife rescue team. The python had a head injury. After it was examined by a veterinary surgeon and given first aid, it was released safely into the forest at midday."
