A three-year-old girl named Mst Fabiha has died from a snakebite in Mirsarai, Chattogram. The incident happened on the night of Wednesday, 28 August.

Fabiha was the daughter of Mohammad Belal of the Kazir Taluk area in Moghadia union of the upazila.

Her relative Mehedi Hasan said a snake bit Fabiha in her sleep at night. When she began crying, her mother took her to people in the neighbouring house. With their help she was first taken to Mirsarai Seba, and from there to Mastan Nagar Hospital, where a doctor declared her dead.

Dr Joya Dhar, the doctor on duty in the emergency department of the upazila health complex, confirmed the death, saying the child was brought in at around 4.30 at night but had died before reaching hospital.

She added that there was a snakebite mark on the child's body, but family members said they had not seen the snake.
