A school in Mirsarai, Chattogram, was hurriedly closed after a snake was seen on its premises.

The incident happened at noon on Wednesday 30 August at Muraripur Government Primary School in No 8 Durgapur union of the upazila.

Confirming the matter, head teacher Dilruba Begum said: "I saw a snake in the commode of the bathroom in the school's office room and quickly got out of the bathroom. Several snakes were also seen three or four days ago, and some were caught with the help of a snake charmer. Seeing a snake again today, we all panicked."

"After talking to the president of the school managing committee and the union parishad chairman, the school was closed on their advice. We are all waiting for a snake charmer," she added.

Durgapur union chairman Abu Sufian Biplob said that when the head teacher told him, he discussed it with the upazila nirbahi officer, and an instruction was given to close the school for the safety of the students.

Mirsarai upazila primary education officer A K M Fazul Haque said teachers and students were frightened after seeing the snake, so the school was closed for everyone's safety. Snakes had been found at the school before, he said.
