The presence of a leopard-like animal in Mirsarai, Chattogram, has caused a stir. Villagers are frightened because the animal roars and moves like a big cat.

Locals said the animal's presence had been noticed for some days at the old Eidgah graveyard in Dakshin Bhuiyan village of the upazila. It has two cubs with it. No attack on people has been reported so far, but it has tried several times to attack cattle and goats.

Maulana Raihan Uddin, imam of the local mosque, said: "Two leopard cubs have been seen at the Eidgah graveyard in Dakshin Bhuiyan village. Local people have been told to be careful, and the area's prominent residents have been asked to take urgent steps."

Md Abdul Gafur, Mirsarai coastal range officer, said: "No one has informed us of this yet. Wild animals like these do not usually attack anyone unless they are provoked. So there is no need to panic."
