A python was caught in a residential area of Mirsarai in Chattogram and later released into the forest by Forest Department officials after they were informed. The snake was released on the afternoon of 4 October.
Local people spotted the python in the Hariharpur area of the Zorarganj beat in Mirsarai upazila that morning. Forest Department officials were informed, and they came and released the snake into natural forest in the afternoon.
Present at the time were Md Shahanshah Naushad, Mirsarai range officer of the Forest Department, and S M Kaiser, an official of the North Chattogram Forest Department.
Mirsarai range officer Md Shahanshah Naushad said they were informed on Wednesday that a python (Burmese python) had come into a residential area of Hariharpur in the Zorarganj beat. The snake is eight feet long and was released into the forest in the afternoon, he said.
