To give rhythm and meaning to an idle retirement, retired college teacher Professor Azizur Rahman of Mirpur in the capital has been rooftop farming for the past two and a half years.
Planned on 1,300 sq ft
For peace of mind and to meet family needs, he set up a farm on his own roof. Though only two to two and a half years old, the farm is promising. He has arranged just 1,300 square feet with various vegetables and seasonal fruit, and it is now the main place where he spends his retirement.
Fresh air and fresh food
He spends most of the day with plants and nature. To him, the roof is both a patch of natural breathing space and a source of pure vegetables and fruit. It has become a place of peace for the whole family, who come up whenever they can, and understanding its many benefits, he wants to enrich it further.
