A trader returning to Dhaka after buying mangoes in Satkhira has died after falling into the hands of an "ojnan party" - a gang that drugs travellers to rob them. The incident happened on Thursday night (30 May). The dead man was Md Asif Talukder (30), a mango trader.

His brother, Md Mohibullah, said: "My brother runs a fruit business at an arot in Baipail, Savar. After buying mangoes he was coming to Dhaka from Satkhira on a bus called Master Travel. On the way, members of an ojnan party fed him something that made him unconscious. The bus helper later found him unconscious and quickly brought him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the doctor declared him dead."

Md Bachchu Mia, inspector in charge of the police camp at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, confirmed the death and said Shahbag police had handed the body over to relatives without a post-mortem.
