A 'Mango Special Train' is being launched to carry mangoes from Chapainawabganj and Rajshahi. The special train's service will be inaugurated at Chapainawabganj railway station on the afternoon of Wednesday, 7 June.
Chapainawabganj station master Md Obaidullah said the train will start from Rohanpur railway station in the district and stop at one more station. Carrying mangoes from these stations, it will reach Dhaka at 1:15am.
The railway authorities published the timetable and fare list for the mango special train last Friday.
Timetable and fares
According to sources, the train will leave Rohanpur in Chapainawabganj for Dhaka at 4pm. It will reach Nachole station at 4:20pm, Nizampur at 4:40pm, Amnura Junction at 5pm, Chapainawabganj railway station at 6pm, and Amnura Bypass and Kakanhat at 6:40pm. Traders and farmers sending mangoes to Dhaka from these stations will pay Tk 1.32 a kg.
The sources said the train will leave Rajshahi railway station for Dhaka at 7:30pm, reaching Sardah Road at 7:53pm, Arani at 8:15pm and Abdulpur at 8:35pm. Traders sending mangoes to Dhaka from these stations will pay Tk 1.17 a kg.
The mango special train will leave Bangabandhu Bridge West for Dhaka's Tejgaon railway station at 10:20pm. On the way it will stop at Joydebpur and Dhaka Airport railway stations for mango bookings. The train will reach Tejgaon at 1:15am.
