The Mango Special Train has set off from Chapainawabganj with 4,758 kg of mangoes. The train began its journey on Thursday (8 June) from the district's Rohanpur station.
It then picked up mangoes from Nachol, Nizampur, Chapainawabganj, Amnura Bypass and Kakanhat stations on its way to Dhaka. From these stations, traders and growers will pay Tk 1 and 32 paisa a kg to send mangoes to Dhaka.
Timetable and fares
Md Abdullah Al Mamun, assistant station master of Rohanpur railway station, said the Mango Special Train had left for Chapainawabganj with 4,758 kg of mangoes. After loading mangoes at Chapainawabganj railway station, the train will leave Rajshahi railway station for Dhaka at 7.30pm. It will reach Sadar Road at 7.53pm, Arani at 8.15pm and Abdulpur at 8.35pm. From these stations, traders will pay Tk 1 and 17 paisa a kg to carry mangoes to Dhaka.
From Bangabandhu Bridge West, the Mango Special Train will reach Dhaka's Tejgaon railway station at 10.20pm.
Earlier, on Thursday (8 June) afternoon, Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan inaugurated the Mango Special Train at the Chapainawabganj railway station premises.
Earlier seasons
The Mango Special Train from Chapainawabganj to the capital via Rajshahi was launched on 5 June 2020. Running until 21 July that year, it carried 167,082 kg of mangoes and earned revenue of Tk 211,458. It was launched for the second time on 27 May 2021, when it carried 236,973 kg of mangoes and earned Tk 1,344,920. Last year the train carried 148,255 kg of mangoes, earning Tk 175,634.
