The office of "Mango Lover", an online mango sales business in Paba, Rajshahi, has allegedly been attacked, vandalised and looted over a family dispute. Two employees who tried to resist were beaten and injured. The business claims the attackers took more than Tk 15 lakh in cash from the office.

The attack took place on the night of Thursday, 25 June, at the Mango Lover office on the fourth floor of the Walton showroom at Nowhata College Mor in the upazila.

The business is owned by nutritionist Murad Parvez, a former student of the Department of Food Technology and Nutrition Science at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU). Murad Parvez alleged that former commissioner Parvez and his associates attacked the office, smashed computers, laptops and other equipment and took more than Tk 15 lakh.

According to locals and eyewitnesses, two brothers named Russell and Ashiq had been in a long-running family dispute. As a result, a group armed with local weapons, sticks and iron rods attacked the Mango Lover office at Nowhata College Mor at night, the report says, and furniture and goods inside were vandalised.

When office staff Sakib and Tamim tried to stop them, the attackers allegedly turned on them and beat them with sticks and rods, leaving both seriously injured. The attackers fled when people from the area came forward, and locals rescued the two and admitted them to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. The victims say they suffered serious injuries to their hands, legs and other parts of the body.

Paba police station visited the scene on receiving the news and brought the situation under control. However, no case had been filed at the police station at the time of reporting; local sources said the victims were preparing to file one.

Abdul Matin, officer-in-charge of Paba police station, said a team had been sent to the scene. No case had yet been filed by the victims, he said, and legal action would be taken on the basis of the complaint.
